Green Energy CreditsChoptank Electric Cooperative has received approval from the Maryland Public Service Commission to sell power generated from renewable resources. Members who wish to support green power and reduce their carbon footprint can elect to purchase Renewable Energy Credits. The green power Choptank will sell is generated from biomass. Co-op members may purchase this green power in blocks of 100 kWh that will cost 20 cents per block. For example, to purchase four blocks or 400 kWh will cost 80 cents. If you purchase blocks of green power, this charge will appear as an additional line item on your monthly bill. There is a minimum purchase of one block with no maximum. The purchase requires a one-year commitment. You may sign up for RECs below. Thank you! Yes! I would like to purchase Renewable Energy Credits (RECs). I understand the purchase requires a one-year commitment and the current price of the RECs is good through 2010. My contract will be automatically renewed each year at the number of blocks I indicate below. I understand the price of the RECs may increase over time and I will be notified via email of the increase. If I decide to discontinue purchasing RECs after one year, I will contact Choptank Electric Cooperative at info@choptankelectric.coop or by calling 877-892-0001.
